Responsibilities
Enterprise Safety Leadership and Culture
- Establish and execute the company’s safety vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Set and maintain corporate safety policies, standards, and procedures across all business units.
- Champion a values-based, prevention-focused safety culture that engages leaders and employees at all levels.
- Serve as the primary advisor to Operations leadership on safety risks, trends, and strategic opportunities.
- Define leading and lagging safety performance targets (e.g., EMR, TRIR, DART) and ensure organizational accountability.
- Lead company-wide safety communication, campaigns, and recognition programs.
- Ensure meaningful employee involvement in safety committees, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Partner with Operations, HR, Risk, and Legal to integrate safety into business planning, training, and performance management.
- Actively engaged in industry associations related to safety (AGC or similar).
Program Development and Team Leadership
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs (hazard identification, incident management, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, crisis management, etc.).
- Oversee safety management systems (SMS), including risk assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
- Evaluate and deploy safety technologies and tools to enhance data visibility, risk control, and field effectiveness.
- Recruit, onboard, lead, and develop a high-performing safety team.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for safety staff.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to build deep organizational safety expertise.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing to support enterprise needs.
- Collaborate with Operations Training department and oversee development and delivery of role-specific safety training, coaching, and communication programs.
Data, Analytics and Reporting
- Develop and maintain safety dashboards and reporting for executive leadership, field leadership, and sector leadership.
- Use data and analytics to identify trends, prioritize risk-reduction efforts, and measure program effectiveness.
- Benchmark performance against industry peers and best-in-class organizations.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans; ensure timely closure and verification.
- Provide clear insights and recommendations to executive leadership based on safety performance metrics and trends.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety, health, and environmental regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.) along with client/program-specific requirements as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies, insurers, and internal/external partners.
- Lead responses to inspections, inquiries, and enforcement actions.
- Collaborate with Risk Management, HR, Operations, and Legal to proactively identify and mitigate safety-related risks, liabilities, and manage through the injury claims process.
- Ensure consistent execution of incident investigations and corrective actions across all business units.
Key Metrics to Success
- Extend PARIC’s record of Zero Lost Time Injuries.
- Reduction in recordable incidents, first-aid cases, and serious safety events.
- Improvement in leading indicators (near-miss reporting, corrective action closure, safety observations).
- Positive movement in safety culture surveys and employee engagement.
- Strong regulatory compliance performance (reduced citations, favorable inspection outcomes).
- Successful adoption and consistent execution of safety programs and systems across all business units.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of progressive safety, health, or risk management experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Experience in commercial construction or general contracting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success building and sustaining a strong safety culture and driving measurable performance improvements.
- Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and leading high-functioning teams.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with executives, operational leaders, and frontline employees.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
- OCIP/CCIP management experience (preferred).
- OSHA Project Specific Partnership Experience.
- VPP Partnership Inclusion.
- Mega Projects and Joint Venture Project Experience.

Certifications
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or equivalent professional safety certification(s).
