About the Role

The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for managing the performance of resource development with a focus on KPIs and accountability, while managing the organization's largest Corporate Partnerships and implementing its largest fundraising event, the Youth of the Year Gala. This role oversees special event fundraising, corporate engagement, campaign activities, individual giving programs, and donor relations to support the organization's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all fundraising activities, including managing the fundraising budget and leading the largest fundraising event, the Youth of the Year Gala.
  • Lead corporate engagement and manage corporate giving, with a focus on large accounts.
  • Support individual giving strategies, including donor conversion efforts.
  • Manage large foundation relationships and provide leadership to the Advancement Department.
  • Define and execute strategic vision, ensuring consistent achievement of results.
  • Coach and mentor a team of 3 direct reports: Manager of Special Events & Communications and 2 Directors of Development.
  • Ensure pipeline management, team KPI accountability, and campaign management.
  • Complete all required administrative reports, data collection, and compliance tasks accurately and on time.
  • Prepare board fundraising reports and develop data-driven strategies.
  • Ensure facility and child safety by taking necessary precautions, reporting incidents, and maintaining documentation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, board members, volunteers, and the public while serving as a role model.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality, with flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional experience; advanced degree and/or certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of fundraising or sales experience.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work regular business hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends as needed for events and urgent matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, including volunteers and professionals.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills to drive organizational change and growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English composition and business correspondence.
  • Experience managing relationships with community stakeholders and working collaboratively with internal and external teams.
  • Working knowledge of budget creation, fundraising practices, and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Experience training, managing, and disciplining employees to enforce policies and procedures.
  • Must pass all required background screens and drug screens and maintain a satisfactory driving record, valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to create and implement integrated marketing and communication programs to meet strategic organizational goals.
  • Experience managing a personal portfolio of 50 to 100 donors and meeting seven-figure fundraising targets.
  • Advanced ability to set and meet goals, supervise staff, and use performance-based management tactics.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with fundraising teams to meet and surpass donor expectations.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and experience with fundraising software such as Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge.
  • Experience managing or overseeing successful special event fundraising.
  • Understanding of issues affecting disadvantaged youth and commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs philosophy.
  • Experience with competitive written RFP processes.
  • Work experience with or knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires the ability to:

  • Remain in a stationary position frequently and occasionally move about the office and community.
  • Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, and copy machines.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, partners, and the community.
  • Occasionally move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use database software and computer applications for business functions.
  • Operate a personal motor vehicle for job-related duties.
  • Maintain intense concentration for prolonged periods, managing multiple tasks with varying deadlines.
  • Understand opposing viewpoints, negotiate, and integrate different perspectives.
  • Organize and prioritize work schedules on a long-term basis.
  • Make decisions with significant impact on department and organizational credibility, operations, and services.
  • Communicate effectively via telephone, computer, or other electronic devices.
  • Express ideas orally and in writing, including formulating complex reports and presentations.
  • Compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and develop forecasts.

The work environment is primarily an office setting with occasional community outreach. Noise levels are usually moderate but can be loud at times. The position requires working in low-income areas and challenging neighborhoods, with regular business hours that may include evenings and weekends. Travel outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area is seldom required.
