About the role

We are seeking a Vice President to join our internal Legal & Compliance team. This position will ideally be based in our NYC or LA offices and is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Corporate, Commercial & Business Support:

    • Initial reviews of non-disclosure agreements and client agreements – including engagement letters, master consulting services agreements, and other documents – leveraging contract playbooks and legal AI tools to flag issues for attorney review
    • Collect, organize, and report information needed for client requests for proposal, vendor due diligence, and alliance partner onboarding
  • Employment Law:

    • Draft various employment-related agreements, including offer letters, contractor agreements, and separation agreements
    • Utilize AI to streamline workflows within the employment law function
    • Stay current on the latest AI trends and other technological tools that may assist the legal department specifically as it relates to employment law
    • Work closely with the People Team on employment law matters
    • Aid in the drafting of employment-related company policies
    • Assist with the investigation process
    • Maintain awareness of laws, regulations, and trends in employment law
    • Aid in analyzing, drafting, and enforcement of restrictive covenants
    • Aid in addressing day-to-day employment relations issues and legal advice and counsel
  • Legal & Compliance Operations and Project Management:

    • Support the legal intake and request management process by reviewing incoming requests, clarifying request details, updating and configuring intake tools and processes, coordinating the assignment of legal and compliance projects, and providing project management support across the team
    • Partner closely with Associate General Counsels and other attorneys on the coordination and execution of legal projects, ensuring deadlines are met and workstreams stay on track
    • Aid in maintaining and updating Accordion’s document template library; use Microsoft Office to update and create contracts and other document templates
    • Manage litigation docket, document filing, repository organization, DocuSign requests, and other day-to-day legal operations tasks
    • Support the office of the Chief Legal & Integration Officer on other initiatives around legal operations, legal technology, playbooks, and workflows and processes
    • Aid in the development, implementation, and maintenance of legal and compliance training materials and standard operating procedures
  • Legal & Compliance Technology and Process Innovation:

    • Build, configure, and maintain legal technology platforms, including Streamline, Ivo, Wordsmith, Claude, and Glean, to support contract review, legal intake, knowledge management, and other Legal & Compliance workflows
    • Use and configure AI-enabled legal tools to automate the generation of contracts, templates, and other legal documents, while improving consistency, efficiency, and ease of use for the Legal & Compliance team
    • Aid Associate General Counsel with the development and automation of contract playbooks, workflows, and repeatable processes using AI tools, including process mapping and workflow re-design
    • Identify and implement innovative tools to improve legal & compliance department workflows

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with an in-house legal department, with vast exposure to both aspects of this role: commercial and employment law
  • Experience drafting and redlining legal documents, such as employment contracts, and non-disclosure agreements, services agreements, and other business-to-business agreements
  • Ability to prioritize and focus on critical tasks across multiple competing projects and demands (you can be a project manager and doer)
  • Assertive and effective communicator capable of persuading and inspiring action
  • Excellent analytical skills, independent reasoning, and a strong business acumen on a day-to-day basis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail and superior organizational skills
  • Excellent proficiency in standard business technology and tools

  • Knowledgeable about the relationship between Private Equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, particularly within the office of the CFO

Pay

The annual salary for this role ranges from: $120,000 to $135,000 USD + benefits + bonus. Actual compensation packages are determined by evaluating a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, years and depth of experience, education, certifications, cost of labor and internal equity.
