About the role

The position is at a fintech company. The VP, People Business Partners & Employee Relations leads our global PBP and ER functions, anticipating business needs and evolving the operating model to help our company perform at its highest level. As a member of the People Leadership Team (PLT), this leader serves as a strategic thought partner to the CPO, PLT, and Executive Leadership Team (XLT), providing an enterprise-wide perspective on our most critical people and organizational decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the strategy, structure, and operating model for the global PBP and ER functions, challenging existing assumptions and redesigning roles, capabilities, and ways of working where appropriate
  • Develop high-performing PBP and ER teams through thoughtful talent decisions, development, coaching, and targeted external hiring; establish clear standards and accountability for team performance and impact
  • Develop independent, trusted relationships with each XLT member, acting as a strategic advisor on enterprise-wide and complex functional leadership, talent, and organizational matters
  • Build a comprehensive understanding of our business, strategy, and operating model, using that knowledge to anticipate organizational, workforce, and talent implications before they arise
  • Partner with XLT on workforce strategy, including talent size, composition, capabilities, and deployment, while identifying how technology, AI, and emerging operating models can improve leverage and effectiveness
  • Support leaders in designing organizations and operating models that clarify accountability, improve speed, and align resources with our highest priorities
  • Elevate the quality of leadership and talent decisions across the company through talent planning, succession planning, executive assessment, and performance management
  • Guide leaders through major organizational changes, establishing the alignment and execution discipline required to sustain business results
  • Define the global Employee Relations strategy and operating model, ensuring a consistent, equitable, and scalable approach
  • Provide executive oversight for our most complex and sensitive ER matters, including executive-level concerns, investigations, and conduct issues
  • Analyze ER data and case trends to identify emerging organizational risks and translate insights into proactive actions that strengthen leadership and management effectiveness, organizational health, and business performance
  • Partner closely with Legal on employment practices, policies, and risk management

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive People leadership experience, including experience within complex, global technology organizations at scale
  • Significant experience leading global PBP organizations and developing high-performing PBP teams
  • Experience overseeing Employee Relations, including sensitive investigations, executive-level matters, and complex employment decisions in partnership with Legal
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with C-suite executives, establishing trust while maintaining independent judgment
  • Deep expertise in organizational consulting, organizational effectiveness, executive coaching, and strategic workforce planning
  • Strong business acumen and learning agility, with the ability to quickly understand complex organizations and develop an independent perspective on organizational needs
  • Strong talent judgment, with the ability to evaluate executive capabilities and provide guidance on high-impact talent decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify organizational and workforce risks and opportunities early, connecting patterns and insights across the business
  • Exceptional executive presence and emotional intelligence, with the ability to challenge constructively and navigate difficult conversations effectively
  • Sound judgment and integrity when managing sensitive people decisions, balancing business priorities, employee impact, and legal or reputational risk

Pay

$340k to $380k annually
