Vice President, General Counsel

Summary of Position

The Vice President, General Counsel will provide strategic legal advice to the executive team, overseeing all legal matters, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, managing risks, and guiding business decisions with a legal perspective, essentially acting as the company's top legal advisor.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to the executive team on various business matters including new ventures, mergers and acquisitions, liability, and employment law.
• Review and manage records for contracts with clients, vendors, and other parties to protect the company’s interests.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, monitor for compliance risks, and implement preventative measures and continual education.
• Assess and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, evaluate their impact, and develop and communicate strategies to mitigate risk.
• Oversee legal disputes, coordinate with external counsel when necessary, and develop litigation strategies.
• Partner with the Head of HR to provide legal counsel on employee-related matters, including employment practices, documents, terminations, and discrimination issues.
• Contribute to the overall business strategy by providing legal insights and proactively identifying potential legal implications of business decisions.
• Act as a change agent to facilitate business growth and expansion.

Education & Experience

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensed to practice law.
• 7+ years of extensive experience in corporate law, including contract law, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
• Experience in the aviation industry, technology, EaaS, or similar industries is a plus.

Schedule & Travel

• Standard business hours, but nights, weekends, and holidays may be required due to operational needs.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

FLSA Status: Full-time, exempt. Lifting requirements: Up to 20 lbs. U.S. work authorization is a precondition of employment.
