Build the financial backbone of a national luxury smart home brand scaling toward $100M+ in revenue—own the full finance function, report directly to the CEO, and architect the systems that power growth. THE WHO: Our client is the nation's leading luxury residential technology integrator, operating across the US. They design and install premium smart home systems—lighting, shades, audio/video, networking, automation—for some of the most spectacular homes in the country. They're PE-backed, scaling toward $100M+ in revenue, and unifying what started as 15+ independent companies into one cohesive national platform. THE WHAT: You will be the senior finance leader, reporting directly to the CEO. You'll own the entire finance function—accounting operations, financial planning, treasury, cash management, and the systems that make it all work. You'll be the source of financial truth for the leadership team, building the reporting discipline and forecasting rigor that a fast-scaling, multi-location business demands. MUST HAVES: We need an operator-finance hybrid. Someone who's managed finance for a multi-location, project-based business and understands the chaos and beauty of field operations, inventory reconciliation, and branch-level P&Ls. You need 8+ years of progressive finance leadership, including experience as a Controller, VP of Finance, or similar senior role. PE-backed company experience is highly preferred. NetSuite expertise is a major plus. Most importantly, you need to be a builder who thrives on bringing order to complexity. THE WHY: This is a career-defining opportunity to own and build something significant. You won't be maintaining someone else's systems—you'll be creating the financial infrastructure that powers the next chapter of growth. You'll have direct access to the CEO, real autonomy to build your team and processes, and the satisfaction of seeing your work directly shape how the business is run. Plus, you're joining during a transformational period with significant upside potential tied to the company's growth trajectory. THE WHERE: Houston, TX preferred (where the corporate team is based), but we're open to exceptional candidates elsewhere who can travel regularly to locations and headquarters. This is a hybrid setup with flexibility, but you need to be present and engaged with the leadership team and accessible to the branch network. THE HOW: Three strategic priorities will define your first 12-18 months:Clean Up and Reconcile: Lead the effort to reconcile inventory, AR, and system-of-record data so financial reporting can be trusted. Put controls in place so problems don't recur. Establish a disciplined, on-time month-end close across all branches that consolidates into a corporate P&L you can stand behind.Build the Forecasting Engine: Create and maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and a robust monthly/quarterly/annual budget model that gives leadership a clear, current view of the business. Your numbers need to be the single source of truth that drives every major decision.Strengthen Systems and Scalability: Partner with Operations and Technology to optimize NetSuite and build the financial infrastructure needed as locations continue to be added. You'll be architecting the reporting, controls, and workflows that allow the company to scale efficiently without losing visibility or control. THE NUTS & BOLTS: Base salary range of $200,000 - $235,000 with performance-based bonus opportunity (20-30% target). Long-term incentive potential tied to company growth and performance. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, HSA/FSA, PTO, paid parental leave, and more. Clear path to CFO as the company scales. They're in the middle of an ambitious growth story: transforming from a collection of independent businesses into one cohesive national platform, building toward $100M in revenue and beyond. YOUR DNAYou're an operator-finance hybridYou understand that finance leadership in a field-driven, project-based business is fundamentally different from a corporate accounting role. You've lived in the world of branch-level P&Ls, inventory reconciliation, job costing, and cash management. You know how to speak the language of operations, not just finance, and you're energized by being a true business partner to the CEO and leadership team. You bring order to chaosYou're not intimidated by complexity or ambiguity—you're energized by it. You see a messy chart of accounts or a tangled sub-ledger and think, "I can fix this." You thrive on building systems, implementing controls, and creating the reporting discipline that transforms raw data into strategic insight. You've done this before, and you're ready to do it again. You lead from the frontYou'll work directly in NetSuite, personally reconcile accounts when needed, and roll up your sleeves alongside your team during month-end close. You lead by example, and your team respects you because you know the work as deeply as they do. You're a strategic communicatorYou can translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance leaders. You present confidently to the CEO and executive team, and you have the judgment to know when to escalate and when to solve problems independently. Your reports don't just show numbers—they tell a story and drive decisions. You're a builder with PE DNAYou understand the rhythms, expectations, and accountability structures of a private equity-backed business. You know how to manage covenant compliance, partner with lenders, support due diligence processes, and structure reporting for a board. You've ideally been through at least one full investment cycle and understand how to position a business for growth and a successful exit. WHAT YOU'LL DO:Own the Finance FunctionRun day-to-day accounting operations—AP, AR, payroll support, month-end and year-end close—and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across all branches. You're the ultimate owner of financial data quality. Build the Forecasting and Planning EngineMaintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and a robust monthly/quarterly/annual budget, P&L, and cash flow model. Leadership needs to see around corners—your models give them that visibility. Lead Reconciliation and Clean-UpTackle the reconciliation of inventory, AR, and system-of-record data so financial reporting can be trusted. Implement controls and processes to ensure problems don't recur. Bring discipline and rigor to the close process. Manage Cash and Banking RelationshipsOversee treasury, cash management, and banking relationships. Partner with Operations on AP strategy and top-vendor management so cash and vendor terms are optimized company-wide, not branch-by-branch. Deliver Strategic ReportingProduce branch-level P&Ls, KPI dashboards, and the analysis the executive team and General Managers need to run the business. Your reports drive decisions—they need to be accurate, timely, and insightful. Ensure Compliance and ControlsMaintain GAAP-compliant financial statements, sound internal controls, and audit readiness.
