Vice President - Finance

About the role

The Vice President of Finance, CPA will provide strategic financial leadership across accounting, budgeting, cash management, receivables, A/P, payroll, and financial reporting, ensuring alignment with Empath Health's mission and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead a large, multi-layered finance organization (4 direct reports, ~100 indirect) through ongoing restructuring, optimization, and future-state team design during the first six months.
• Deliver timely, accurate financial analyses, forecasts, and Board-ready presentations; offer insights and recommendations that support executive decision-making.
• Oversee compliance with GAAP, regulatory standards, internal controls, and all federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
• Direct and support financial operations during significant organizational growth, including M&A activity and integration of new service lines.
• Partner closely with the CFO and senior leadership on strategic initiatives, long-term planning, and organizational priorities.

Requirements

• CPA Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA required.
• Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration preferred.
• Experience with Finance, Accounting, Receivables, A/P, Payroll etc.
• Extensive executive-level healthcare finance experience with proven leadership in hospice, home health, or large health systems.
• Healthcare experience required.
• Track record of leading finance operations in organizations of $1 billion+ in size, with experience navigating large-scale growth, M&A activity, and organizational change.
• Demonstrated success building and leading large teams, including multi-layered structures with significant indirect reporting lines.
• Strong executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with the Board, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams.
