Vice President – Cyber Incident Response

About the role

The National Incident Response Team (NIRT) is part of the Information Security & Policy portfolio at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The team collaborates with business areas to address cybersecurity threats, enforce security policies, and protect Federal Reserve assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mature a 24x7 Security Operations Center (SOC) and Incident Response (IR) operations, including threat hunting, malware analysis, and forensic investigations.
• Advance incident response capabilities by integrating AI tools, autonomous triage models, and innovative analytics to increase speed, precision, and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize detection and response processes, and enhance system cybersecurity services.
• Provide leadership and technical expertise to support critical operational areas and manage or direct response activities during significant cyber incidents.
• Ensure informed risk decisions by senior executive leadership and business line executives through coordination of high-impact briefings on sensitive cyber security matters.
• Lead and mentor teams to foster personal and professional growth, guide through transformation with clarity, empathy, and disciplined execution, and enable cross-functional adoption of improved ways of working.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline, or the equivalent.
• Five to ten years of leadership experience in progressively responsible roles in a demanding enterprise environment.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
• Demonstrated experience in evaluating processes and maintaining a robust control environment for a complex, federated IT organization.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance.

Qualifications

• Exceptional grasp of operational management, incident response, and crisis leadership.
• Experience with SOC operations, cloud capabilities, AI modernization, and security technology integration and architecture.

• Starting salary range between $308,700 and $365,100 annually, with final salary and offer determined based on qualifications, internal alignment, district assignment, and geographic location.

The starting salary range for this position is between $308,700 and $365,100 annually, with final salary and offer determined based on qualifications, internal alignment, district assignment, and geographic location. The listed salary is applicable to the Chicago District. Final offers are determined by factors including the candidate’s qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.
