About the role
The Senior AI Modernization Engineer (.NET/C#) will play a key role in transforming critical ERP functionality into modern C#/.NET solutions. The position involves analyzing complex legacy COBOL applications, understanding underlying business rules and system dependencies, and modernizing mission-critical payroll and ERP operations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand legacy COBOL applications, batch jobs, copybooks, file-processing workflows, and embedded business rules
- Design, develop, and maintain modern C#/NET solutions supporting ERP and payroll platforms
- Participate in large-scale modernization efforts involving millions of lines of legacy application code
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modernization techniques to accelerate code transformation and engineering productivity
- Build automated testing and deployment pipelines to ensure code quality and maintainability
- Collaborate closely with engineering leadership, platform architects, and product teams to modernize core ERP functionality while ensuring operational continuity and software quality throughout the process
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in C#/.NET development
- Proven experience in modernizing legacy COBOL applications and integrating them with modern ERP systems
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, including payroll, financials, and supply chain management
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders and participate in cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as MCSD, MCAD, or similar
- Experience with cloud-based development platforms like Azure DevOps
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and iterative development processes
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Proficiency in SQL and database design
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Understanding of microservices architecture and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
