Vice President, Commercial Freight Forwarding - Americas
About the role
As Vice President, Commercial Freight Forwarding - Americas, you will ensure proper alignment between the global strategy, guidelines, and procedures and the business units’ execution tasks. You will provide guidance and oversight to the business units in pursuit of their objectives while actively participating in large opportunity sales, sponsoring and managing key regional customer relationships, and supporting the global vertical and key account teams within the ocean and air product.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate sales efforts and sales focus within the region
- Manage sales pipeline and funnel using the CRM
- Coordinate the preparation of sales targets and commercial budgets across the business units
- Facilitate opportunity dissemination and sharing of sales leads across business units and with other regions, as well as cooperation opportunities with other corporate pillars (P&T, Marine, Digital) within the region
- Act as the main entry point for cross-regional or cross-pillar communication as it relates to Freight Forwarding commercial
- Lead trade lane development efforts and support ongoing squads, as well as vertical or key account squads
- Engage with cargo owners to ensure strong relationship management in coordination with the Commercial team, focusing on face-to-face customer interactions
- Discover new business operations, analyze their contribution to the business, and coordinate resources required to implement new services
- Assess financial and economic issues to identify trade opportunities and risks
- Collaborate with senior management by providing updates and solutions on areas related to business impact of projects
- Assist with pricing structure and financial models of the different services to assess future profitability of business opportunities
- Help business units resolve roadblocks or bottlenecks in the normal course of business and escalate when required
- Promote continuous process improvement across the business units, as well as good practice sharing within the region and with other regions
Requirements
- Minimum 15 years’ senior management experience within Freight Forwarding, Logistics, or related industries
- In-depth knowledge of North and South American regional customer and commodity base, and country market practices
- Successful management of all key stakeholder relationships, both internal and external
- Advanced knowledge of logistics process and security procedures and protocols
- Strong negotiator and self-starter with the ability to adapt to stressful environments using a sociable but firm approach, as well as engendering trust and integrity
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop, and encourage others to positively contribute to business goals and objectives
- High-level analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
- Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to build solid relationships
- Proficient in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus
- Proven record of leadership, coaching, and being a team player
