Vice President, Biologics Research
About the role
We're seeking a Vice President, Biologics Research to lead biologics discovery, engineering, and early-stage development at Insmed. Reporting to the Head of Insmed's East Coast Research, you'll collaborate with senior leaders across R&D and the broader organization.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term scientific strategy for biologics research, aligning with corporate and portfolio objectives.
- Provide thought leadership on therapeutic targets, protein engineering, biologics modality selection, and biotherapeutic discovery, design, and development.
- Ensure scientific rigor, innovation, and data-driven decision-making across all biologics programs.
- Support expansion of laboratory automation and adoption of AI-enabled workflows and decision-making.
- Oversee and support teams through key milestones, including establishing screening cascades, molecular design, candidate selection, preclinical development, and IND-enabling studies.
- Translate and interface with clinical teams, supporting IND submissions and early clinical development.
- Lead the understanding of human immune responses to protein antigens and their impact on safety, efficacy, and durability.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent degree with 15+ years of experience in biopharma or biotech R&D, including progressive leadership responsibility.
- Strategic thinker with strong scientific judgment and the ability to balance innovation with execution.
- Effective leader of multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in protein engineering and knowledge of adaptive immunology.
- General familiarity with modern protein design technologies (e.g., computational design, AI/ML-enabled approaches).
- Experience with biotherapeutic drug development, including in vivo pharmacology, PK/PD strategy, preclinical CMC support for toxicology and safety assessment, and support for first-in-human translation.
- Excellent communication skills, influencing at the executive level, and translating complex science into clear decisions.
- A track record of successful cross-functional collaboration and delivery of high-impact programs.

Pay
$290,000.00 - $396,000.00 Annual
Schedule
This is an onsite position based out of our New Hampshire office, with flexibility for some remote work. Occasional travel (approximately 5%–15%) is required.
