Vice President & Actuary (Annuities Pricing)
Accountabilities
The Vice President & Actuary (Annuities Pricing) serves as a senior actuarial leader responsible for guiding pricing strategies, managing product profitability, and supporting business growth through data-driven insights and effective collaboration.
Lead actuarial pricing strategies for variable individual annuity products, including product design, rate setting, profitability analysis, and governance processes.
Partner with internal stakeholders across product, investments, valuation, finance, and corporate actuarial functions to evaluate opportunities and support strategic decisions.
Assess new product concepts, pricing models, assumptions, and methodologies to determine feasibility and alignment with business objectives.
Communicate complex actuarial concepts, product features, financial drivers, and risk-return considerations to technical and executive audiences.
Oversee regulatory requirements related to annuity products, including filings, compliance activities, and regulatory interactions.
Manage production activities such as assumption maintenance, profitability reporting, pricing updates, and documentation standards.
Identify emerging competitive, regulatory, and market trends to uncover opportunities and mitigate business risks.
Drive process improvements, operational efficiencies, and enhancements to actuarial methodologies.
Lead and develop a team of actuaries by managing priorities, providing guidance, and supporting professional growth.
Influence strategic initiatives and contribute to enterprise-wide actuarial and financial objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation required.
- 10+ years of actuarial experience, with significant experience in pricing and product management.
- Strong knowledge of annuity products, particularly variable annuities; experience with fixed annuities is a plus.
- Experience with actuarial modeling software and analytical tools such as MATLAB, GGY Axis, Python, or similar platforms.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop actionable recommendations.
- Prowess in explaining complex actuarial topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading teams or managing actuarial professionals preferred.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and drive results in a complex organization.
- Strong collaboration, communication, research, and strategic thinking skills.
