Vice Chair for Administration, Department of Nurse Anesthesia - Full-Time – Open Stream

About the role

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is seeking a Vice Chair for Administration in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia. The DNP Nurse Anesthesia program prepares students through rigorous coursework that includes anesthesia practice, organizational skills, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support the department chair and oversee the teaching mission of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia
• Teach, conduct research, and contribute to service
• Provide leadership for the Department of Nurse Anesthesia in the absence of the department chair
• Orient and mentor new faculty to teaching roles
• Support and present regular updates in department meetings
• Collaborate with the Department Chair on matters regarding department faculty and staff
• Meet regularly with the Department Chair and Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship to review faculty development and departmental needs

Requirements

• Board certified as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Unencumbered license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (or multi-state license from a compact state)
• Proven administrative capabilities in leading and managing academic and curricular activities
• Evidence of or potential for a sustained and impactful program of scholarship
• Evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring
• Leadership skills in teaching, research/scholarship, and service

Qualifications

• For Assistant Professor: Earned doctorate in nursing or related field, evidence of scholarship, teaching, and mentoring
• For Associate Professor: Earned doctorate in nursing or related field, evidence of scholarship, teaching, mentoring, and leadership
• For Professor: Earned doctorate in nursing or related field, evidence of scholarship, teaching, mentoring, leadership, and international recognition
