About the role
Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ is seeking Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Overnight ER department. Work alongside a dedicated team of technicians and doctors, develop close relationships, and utilize advanced diagnostic tools to provide exceptional care.
Responsibilities
- Assist with general anesthesia and sedated procedures (sedation, induction/maintenance)
- Instrument care and sterilization
- Set up CRIs and calculate medical math
- Place IV catheters and institute fluid therapy
- Position appropriately for radiographs and understand radiation safety
- Provide quality, compassionate nursing care for hospitalized patients
- Prepare and administer transfusions: Blood and Plasma
- Maintain accurate treatment sheets
- Obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing
- Use of mechanical ventilators for anesthesia
- Provide client education on a wide range of at-home care
Requirements
- CVT/LVT/RVT preferred, or a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a technician (VTS highly regarded and justly compensated)
- Comprehensive understanding of and experience with anesthetic monitoring
- Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens
- Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of normal vs abnormal physiologic ranges
- Commitment to mentor and train veterinary assistants
- Ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment
- Positive outlook and friendly, team-oriented attitude
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to deliver exceptional client service

About Garden State Veterinary Specialists
We are a multispecialty practice with boarded veterinary specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Dermatology, Cardiology, and Ophthalmology. We have treated felines with hyperthyroid disease using radioactive iodine since 2001. Our team includes two technicians with VTS credentials in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Pay
$23/hr - $34/hr depending on skills, experience, and credentials, plus overnight shift differentials.
Schedule
- Overnight: Wednesday-Saturday: 9:30 PM - 8:00 AM
- Overnight: Thursday-Saturday: 6:00 PM - 8:00 AM
