About the Role
Points East Veterinary Specialty Hospital is seeking an overnight ER or ICU Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join a strong team of specialty doctors. As the only specialty hospital east of Raleigh, we serve patients across North Carolina and southern Virginia in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. Our VECCS-certified Level III hospital is privately owned and committed to advancing veterinary care in the community without the influence of non-medical private investors.
Located in Wilson, NC, we offer specialty care in Surgery, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine, supported by Advanced Diagnostic Imaging with board-certified review. Our hospital provides round-the-clock staffing, advanced treatment options, and comprehensive specialty care for pets in the region.
Responsibilities
- Perform veterinary emergency and critical care procedures.
- Handle and monitor patients with a strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with the veterinary team and pet owners.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to distressed canine and feline patients.
- Observe and accurately report patient behavior and condition to the veterinary team.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Experience working in a veterinary emergency, ICU, or critical care setting.
- Strong understanding of veterinary emergency procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
