Veterinary Technician, Intensive Care Unit Per Diem

Job Description

The ICU Veterinary Technician provides high-level nursing care and technical support for hospitalized specialty and critical care patients. This role works closely with veterinarians and the ICU team to manage complex cases, perform advanced treatments, monitor critical patients, and ensure continuity of care throughout the night.

Qualifications

  • RVT/LVT/CVT preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years veterinary experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Specialty, emergency, or inpatient ICU experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient restraint.
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and critical patient care preferred.
  • Knowledge of fluid therapy, radiology safety, and basic emergency protocols.
  • Able to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Able to work independently and make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
