About the job

You will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all our patients within the hospital and perform duties pursuant to WRAH Technician Protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide support to all veterinarians and assist other departments as requested
  • Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician required
  • Experience working in an ER setting preferred, but not required
  • A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current license to practice veterinary technology in the state of Colorado
  • Completion of a recognized veterinary technician program

Schedule

  • Thursday through Saturday, 12:00pm - 12:00am
  • Wednesday through Saturday, 8:00pm - 6:00am or 9:00pm - 7:00am
  • Day shift is to be determined, but will consist of either four 10-hour or three 12-hour shifts

Pay

$24.00 - $29.00 / hour, based on experience
$3.00/hr swing shift differential
$5.00/hr overnight shift differential
