About the role

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) focused on supporting our surgical team with anesthesia, patient care, and treatment in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment dedicated to high-quality medicine and exceptional client service. Opportunities to collaborate closely with veterinarians and cross-train in multiple areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional nursing care, including patient restraint, catheter placement, postoperative monitoring, wound care, and bandage changes.
  • Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia induction and monitoring, and recovery care.
  • Monitor vital signs and ensure patient safety throughout all surgical procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic and laboratory procedures, including blood collection, urinalysis, cytology, and in-house laboratory testing.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical suites, equipment, and instruments.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and utilize practice management software effectively.
  • Educate clients on postoperative care, medications, and follow-up instructions.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients, clients, and team members.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license in good standing.
  • 3 years of previous veterinary medicine experience.
  • Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred.
  • General practice or specialty experience is a plus.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced situations.
  • Compassion and confidence when working with ill, injured, or anxious animals.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to lift and restrain animals (over 40 pounds with assistance), stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks throughout the day.
