Animal Eye Care Associates is looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Assistant to join our specialty ophthalmology team in Wake Forest, NC. Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of eye conditions, providing advanced medical and surgical care to help preserve vision, improve comfort, and enhance our patients' quality of life.

You'll work closely with our doctors and team throughout appointments, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgical cases.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handling and restraining patients for examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Obtaining thorough patient histories and documenting information in medical records
  • Assisting with specialized ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing
  • Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
  • Assisting with surgical preparation and maintaining proper sterile technique
  • Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures
  • Monitoring anesthesia and recording patient vitals based on experience and credentials
  • Placing IV catheters and performing blood draws based on skill level
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Maintaining and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment
  • Providing attentive patient care throughout hospitalization and recovery
  • Educating and communicating with clients regarding treatments and home-care instructions
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and surgical areas
  • Working closely with the entire team to provide an exceptional patient and client experience

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience
  • Confident handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments
  • Strong patient care and technical skills
  • Organized, dependable, and attentive to detail
  • Professional and compassionate communication with clients and teammates
  • Enjoys learning and wants to expand veterinary knowledge
  • Thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Passionate about providing high-quality patient care

For RVT candidates: Current North Carolina registration or eligibility for registration is preferred. Previous ophthalmology or specialty experience is a plus, but not required. We're happy to help the right candidate develop their knowledge and skills in veterinary ophthalmology.

Schedule

4-5 day work week with no weekends or late nights. 36-40 hours.
