Veterinary Technician/Assistant

Job Duties

• Assisting doctors and technicians in the exam rooms, treatment area and surgery
• Filling prescriptions
• Restraining pets for exams and treatments
• Cleaning hospital treatment and exam areas
• Collecting samples (urine, blood, feces, etc.) and running necessary tests
• Administering medication prescribed by Veterinarians (intravenous, intramuscular, oral, rectal, etc.)
• Prepping and monitoring patients for anesthesia
• Performing dental cleanings

Required Skills

• Passion for working with both animals and people.
• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Remains calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency with computer software.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.

Hours

• 30-40 hours
• 4-day work week
• 8am-5pm Monday through Friday
• No weekends

Requirements

• A minimum of one year experience as a veterinary assistant and/or completion of veterinary assistant course work.

Pay

$13-$16/Hour
