About The Role
W.L. Gore and Associates is seeking a Veterinary Pathologist to join the Biosciences' Pathology team at their research facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. This team supports the development of advanced implantable medical devices such as vascular grafts, endovascular and interventional devices, cardiac devices, surgical meshes, and sutures.
Responsibilities
- Gross and microscopic analysis of tissue and implanted medical technologies, including cardiovascular, soft tissue, and other applications
- Performing necropsies on large and small animal species, grossing in specimens, and obtaining histomorphometric data
- Collaborating with product development teams to design and execute in vivo studies
- Compiling data and writing concise reports to meet business timelines
- Presenting data in written and verbal forms to a broad audience
- Collaborating with associates and external experts for the evaluation process
- Providing scientific and technical support for regulatory submissions and communications with regulatory bodies
- Hands-on, self-motivated, and able to function independently and within a team environment
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree
- Diplomacy with the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (DACVP) specifically with Anatomic Pathology
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Initiative and ability to work independently and within a team
- Multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable with animal testing and research, and handling fresh and fixed tissue
- Able to lift approximately 50 lbs independently
- Experience conducting or supporting non-clinical studies that comply with good laboratory practice (GLP) regulations
- Working experience as a pathologist in the medical device industry with experience developing nonclinical risk analyses for medical devices
- Experience in teaching or training others in anatomy, veterinary medicine, veterinary pathology, histopathology, or microscopy
