About the role
Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for a Student Assistant position in the Cary Veterinary Medical Unit. This position supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with the daily operations of the unit and providing general support as needed. Student assistants may work up to 20 hours per week, depending on operational needs.
Schedule
Regular work schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (6 hours per week).
Responsibilities
- Check library materials in and out for patrons
- Reshelve returned items and maintain shelf order
- Assist patrons in locating materials and using library resources
- Provide customer service at the service desk, including answering questions
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Open and/or close the Veterinary Medicine Branch Library
- Scan articles and materials for interlibrary lending
- Sort and organize books and other library materials
- Perform shelf reading to ensure materials are in proper order
Requirements
- Enrolled student at Auburn University
- All application questions must be completed
- Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours

Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform tasks that may include standing, walking, reaching, handling equipment, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds
