Veterinary Assistant - Tidewater Animal Clinic

About the role

Tidewater Animal Clinic in Suffolk, VA, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our busy and collaborative team. Since opening our doors in 2018, we have been dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care to the pets and families of Suffolk and the surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential patient care, assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
• Create a positive client experience by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications, always with a courteous and informative approach.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment by taking pride in maintaining the hospital, performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Strong animal restraint skills for both dogs and cats.
• Familiarity with core and lifestyle vaccine protocols.
• Understanding of veterinary medical terminology.
• A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
• Calm and confident in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.

Pay

$17–$20/hour (based on experience)

Hospital Hours:

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Sunday: Closed
