Veterinary Assistant Surgery

About the role

VCA Palm Beach Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery teams at our 24-hour Emergency & Critical Care service.

Responsibilities

• Compassionate patient care
• Patient assessment and triage
• Client education and care
• Hospitalization/ICU care
• Anesthesia induction and monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assisting
• Radiology
• Laboratory sample collection and diagnostic testing
• Venipuncture, catheterization
• Pharmacy
• Medical record keeping

Requirements

• Experience in emergency or specialty medicine, or several years of experience in general practice
• Flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT)
• Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay and Schedule

• $24 - $28 / hr based on skill set and experience
• Full-time, (4) ten-hour shifts
