Veterinary Assistant, Multi-Specialty

Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate patient care, ensuring comfort, cleanliness, and safety for hospitalized patients.
- Monitor patients and alert technicians or veterinarians to changes in condition.
- Absorb and alert to changes in patient condition.
- Assist with patient restraint for exams, diagnostics, and procedures.
- Assist with IV catheter placement, venipuncture, and sample collection.
- Administer medications under direction of veterinarian or technician.
- Absorb anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation.
- Support diagnostic procedures including radiographs and CT scans.
- Assist with placement of urinary catheters and oxygen support devices.
- Perform patient recovery monitoring, including temperature support and vital checks.
- Walk, feed, and clean hospitalized patients.
- Assist with laboratory sample handling and in-house diagnostics.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical packs.
- Process medical records, discharge instructions, and client paperwork accurately.
- Support client communication including estimates, updates, and discharge education.
- Maintain cleanliness, stocking, and organization of hospital areas.
- Absorb and assist with additional tasks and workflow support across departments as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 6 months to 1 year of veterinary experience required.
- Strong patient handling and restraint skills.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and basic clinical procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed.
- Demonstrated compassion for patients and strong client service mindset.
- Fluent English speaking and reading required; multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
Pay
$17.00 - $22.00/hr. based on experience and skillset
Schedule
Full-Time 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM Weekdays ONLY Primarily daytime schedule with approximately one overnight ICU shift every three weeks
