Veterinary Assistant, Heart of Chelsea, New York

About the role

We're currently hiring Veterinary Assistants for a weekend-focused schedule (Friday–Monday only) with part-time and full-time opportunities available. If you're passionate about animal care and want to build a career in a collaborative, high-performing environment, we'd love to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Aid veterinarians and technicians during exams, procedures, and treatments
• Provide high-quality nursing care and monitor hospitalized patients
• Take patient histories and record observations in medical records
• Perform phlebotomy, radiography, and in-house laboratory testing
• Administer medications and treatments as directed
• Educate and communicate with clients in a clear, compassionate manner
• Admit and discharge patients while ensuring a smooth client experience
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked hospital environment

Requirements

• Previous veterinary experience preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Confidence handling and restraining animals safely
• A positive, team-first attitude and strong work ethic
• Genuine passion for animal care and a desire to grow in the field

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Technician (VTS) or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
