Veterinary Assistant Emergency
Great Lakes Veterinary Specialists is seeking a detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our growing ER Team. We are a 24/7 Specialty and Emergency hospital staffed with compassionate and experienced veterinarians, highly skilled RVTs, and a well-trained team of veterinary assistants. New team members are trained through a mentorship program before working independently.
About the Role
This part-time, variable-schedule position offers the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skillset while working with a variety of cases. We welcome applicants with a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and an excellent work ethic. While 1-2 years of surgical experience is preferred, it is not required. You must be self-motivated and able to think on your feet.
Responsibilities
- Patient assessment and husbandry
- Client communication
- Collecting patient histories and performing thorough physical exams
- Hands-free radiology (associate safety is a top priority)
- Working collaboratively with team members across all hospital services
- Providing compassionate care for all patients
