About the role

We are looking for an energetic and friendly candidate to join our team at Russell Veterinary Services! The ideal candidate will have prior Veterinary Assistant experience plus Customer Service experience as we are looking for a team member that can cover the reception desk one or two days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Aid veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery and other tasks as needed.
  • Absorb histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as provide client education during outpatient exams.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs of the patient during surgery.
  • Collect, process, and send out samples; perform in-hospital laboratory testing and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
  • Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following proper safety procedures.
  • Handle and restrain animals during exams.
  • Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas; restock exam rooms with supplies.
  • Assist other team members to keep the public areas of the practice clean; clean and maintain all medical equipment.
  • Show warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients; exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
  • Communicate with veterinarians and practice team members including client discussions, patient plans, client concerns, etc.

Customer Service Representative Responsibilities

  • Lead practice opening and closing procedures per Practice Manager instructions and practice procedures.
  • Process cash, checks, charge card payments and credit account payments.
  • Schedule appointments for the clinic adhering to practice and Doctor preferences and ensure appropriate workflow.
  • Update client/patient files, as needed.
  • Prepare and send client correspondence.
  • Send reminder notices to clients for periodic notifications; conduct re-calls to clients on a timely basis from a call back list.
  • Perform a backup of the computer system on a regular basis, as directed.
  • Perform and oversee the performance of posting daily business.
  • Welcome clients and patients to the practice with a warm and friendly demeanor and ensures an excellent experience during the practice visit.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls applying proper telephone etiquette.
  • Present clients with medications, instructions, new client kits and any other take home items.
  • Handle emergency situations with great care, patience, and following established clinic policies and procedures.
  • Address client concerns in a calm appropriate manner, ensuring every experience ends in satisfaction.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Ability to work on weekends as required.
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.
  • Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages.
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS office applications, etc.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Pay

Pay Range: USD $14.00 - USD $16.00 /Hr.
