Veterinary Assistant - Boulder Veterinary Hospital

About the role

Boulder Veterinary Hospital, part of the Suveto network of hospitals, is seeking an experienced full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and with intention
• Communicate with clientele about medications, treatments
• Maintain an atmosphere of personal and professional growth and support amongst employees
• Aid in DVM and technician appointments, including:
• Checking in patients, recording TPR and adequate history in a timely manner
• Carrying out treatments as directed by DVM, including:
• Patient restraint
• Vaccines
• Ear cleaning
• Nail trims
• Anal gland expressions
• Subcutaneous injections
• Cephalic blood draws/heartworm tests
• Cytology preparation
• Filling prescriptions
• Entering all charges accurately and in a timely manner
• Maintaining cleanliness in exam rooms, laboratory, treatment area, and kennels

Qualifications

• Two years of previous experience in veterinary care is preferred
• Competency with PIMS and reference laboratories
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members
• A genuine love for animals
