Veterinary Assistant

Bayshore Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help create exceptional experiences for clients and patients during exams and outpatient visits. We are seeking an outgoing veterinary assistant who thrives in client engagement, schedule coordination, and multitasking.

About the role

In this position, you will play a critical role in supporting efficient hospital operations, creating positive client experiences, and ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both the veterinary team and clients throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care
• Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Support veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care
• Build positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments; exotic animal experience is highly desired
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift, and restrain patients safely throughout the workday
• Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service

Pay

$17–$21 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time or part-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday through Friday and rotating Saturdays.
