Veterinary Assistant

Bernalillo Pet Care Center is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. In this position, you will take an active role in: Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflowsAssisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistryProviding safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural carePreparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and proceduresMaintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentationReviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionatelyBuilding positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive serviceMaintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces Schedule And Compensation Compensation: $16.50 - $20 per hour, for each hour workedThis is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday. The 2,960-square-foot hospital was converted from a restaurant and updated with room to expand. Equipment includes digital X-ray, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, laser therapy, and acupuncture. The hospital performs 2–4 surgeries per day, including spay/neuter procedures, eye repairs, soft tissue surgery, and occasional orthopedic cases, with Chinese Herbal Medicine also available. The team describes the environment as fast-paced but fun, with a strong work-life balance and rarely working past 5 p.m. Bernalillo offers small-town charm, outdoor recreation, and easy access to the Sandia Mountains and Albuquerque. This is a good-faith estimate based on the role's requirements at the time of posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
