About the role

Carr Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

Responsibilities

  • Taking an active role in supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Aiding veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry
  • Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintaining patient safety and monitoring anesthesia and supporting patient recovery as directed by the veterinary team
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Requirements

  • 2+ years of veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, or related role preferred
  • Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Experience assisting with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license

Skills

  • Safe animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Schedule and compensation

  • Schedule: Full-time position with a 4 x 10 schedule and availability needed Monday - Friday only, NO WEEKENDS!
  • Compensation: $17 - 20 per hour, for each hour worked
