About the role

Family Pet Clinic of Newberg is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care. This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile veterinary assistant who enjoys variety in their day and wants to continue utilizing and developing a well-rounded skillset across patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, outpatient procedures, acupuncture, and orthopedic care. Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and stress-free restraint during outpatient and procedural care
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces

Schedule

Full-time position with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday–Friday with a rotating Saturday. Saturday shifts are generally scheduled every other Saturday, with the possibility of working two consecutive Saturdays based on scheduling needs.

Compensation

$19 – $21 per hour, for each hour worked

Minimum Qualifications and Skill Set

• 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred
• Proficiency in the following skills:
  • Safe animal handling and stress-free restraint skills for dogs, cats, pocket pets, and reptiles of varying sizes and temperaments
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
  • Surgical setup and assisting
  • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, blood draws and outpatient procedures
  • Radiographs and positioning
  • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
