Veterinary Assistant

Small Door is a membership-based veterinary care service designed to provide exceptional care for pets, pet parents, and veterinarians. Founded in 2019, we have rapidly expanded across the East Coast, operating in New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Responsibilities

• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assess patients, record vitals, and assist doctors with diagnostics
• Complete treatments as directed by the doctor
• Provide basic husbandry and nursing care
• Maintain patient records and monitor changes in condition
• Facilitate radiography and prepare samples for outside labs
• Run in-house labs and administer medications
• Work tele-triage shifts (additional stipend)
• Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant
• Availability to work weekends (Saturday or Sunday)
• Comfortable with computers and online tools
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Positive attitude and teamwork skills
• Effective communication with clients

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current certification as a Veterinary Assistant (Vet Tech) or related field
• Experience with basic veterinary procedures and equipment
• Knowledge of animal behavior and nutrition

Skills

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

Salary range: $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Shifts vary, typically including weekends and evenings. Exact schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
