The Role

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant with compassion, clinical skill, and a team-first mindset to join our dedicated healthcare team at Southern Hills Animal Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, and procedures
• Safely restraining and handling patients with care and confidence
• Supporting diagnostics, lab work, and medical recordkeeping
• Educating clients on patient care, treatments, and follow-up needs
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area
• Collaborating with teammates to ensure smooth daily operations

Requirements

• Compassion & Emotional Maturity: Stay calm under pressure, handle emotional situations with empathy, and prioritize patient comfort and safety
• Clinical & Animal Handling Skills: Experience assisting with exams, treatments, diagnostics, and basic nursing care
• Strong Communication Skills: Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinarians, teammates, and clients
• Customer Service Excellence: Understand that great medicine includes great client experiences
• Organization & Attention to Detail: Juggle multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy
• Computer Literacy: Comfortable with medical records, scheduling systems, and practice software

Qualifications

• Veterinary or medical experience preferred
• Licensure welcomed but not required depending on role
