About the role
A day in the life of a Banfield Veterinary Assistant involves advocating for pets and educating clients on all aspects of pet health. You’ll work closely with other pet health care professionals and have access to learning and development opportunities to advance your career.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to ensure clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital.
- Use technical skills daily within state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant duties.
- Help maintain the flow of patients and communicate with veterinarians and vet techs.
- Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
- Adhere to hospital standards for pet safety and maintain clean, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans® and the importance of preventive care.
- Mentor other members of the hospital team.
Requirements
- Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to perform all required skills of NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant programs to aid in practice efficiency.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $15.19 - $19.41 hourly, with the specific rate determined based on candidate’s experience, skill level, education, and location or applicable minimum wage laws.
