Veterinarian (Part-Time)
About the role
Join our team as a part-time Veterinarian at Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS)! We are the primary agency responsible for lost pet care, animal abuse investigation, and animal rescue in Multnomah County.
Responsibilities
Provide medical and surgical care to shelter animals, including physical examinations, diagnostics, medications, and treatments.
Perform surgeries such as spay/neuter, entropions, enucleations, mass removals, and amputations.
Coordinate shelter medical operations, analyze and review medical protocols, and implement recommendations.
Supervise activities within the animal health unit, delegate tasks to CVTs and Veterinary Assistants, and monitor quality of work.
Identify, treat, and prevent health concerns to support live dispositions of animals.
Train shelter staff and volunteers on medical topics, including medications, vaccinations, herd health, infectious disease, and quarantines.
Provide internal and external customer service, communicate with staff, volunteers, and members of the public, and respond to inquiries.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a university outside of the U.S., and three (3) years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in veterinary practice, or two (2) additional years of experience supervising animal health technicians and others in a veterinary clinic, or one (1) year of experience supervising animal health technicians in an animal shelter setting.
License required to practice veterinary medicine as outlined by Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) 686.020 at the time of hire and maintenance of it throughout employment.

Benefits
The shelter operates seven (7) days per week. Staff members work between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:30 PM. The pay range is $118,322.54 - $177,485.49 annually.

The pay range is $118,322.54 - $177,485.49 annually. Actual compensation will be determined in accordance with the Oregon Equal Pay Law and will take into account factors such as the candidate's relevant experience and education.
Schedule
20 hours/week, TBD. The shelter operates seven (7) days per week.
