About the role

Waccamaw Regional Veterinary Center is seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Director (DVM) to lead our growing small animal veterinary hospital in Conway, South Carolina. Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain high standards of veterinary medicine and patient care
• Guide diagnostic, treatment, and case management decisions
• Perform surgical and dental procedures
• Expand and enhance advanced medical and surgical offerings
• Promote best practices and evidence-based medicine throughout the hospital
• Mentor associate veterinarians and support clinical skill development
• Provide guidance on complex medical and surgical cases
• Foster a collaborative, positive, and accountable culture
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
• Help cultivate future veterinary leaders within the organization
• Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities
• Support service expansion and medical program development
• Provide input on equipment purchases and facility investments
• Improve workflows, efficiency, and patient care processes
• Contribute to long-term hospital success and sustainability

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
• Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in South Carolina
• Five or more years of clinical veterinary experience preferred
• Strong surgical proficiency and confidence in dentistry
• Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities
• Passion for developing people, systems, and medical excellence
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
