Veterinarian Medical Director

About the Role

Galveston Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership while continuing to practice high‑quality medicine in a unique coastal hospital. The position is primarily clinical (approximately 90% clinical and 10% administrative) and offers the opportunity to influence medical standards, support team development, and shape the future of a well‑established practice.

Qualifications

• Experienced veterinarian with a strong commitment to mentorship and collaboration.
• Passion for medical excellence and high‑quality patient care.
• Ability to lead a team, support associate veterinarians, externs, and the broader medical staff.
• Interest in working with a diverse caseload that includes small animals, traditional exotics, and unique species.

• Full‑service small‑animal and exotics general practice with wellness, sick, surgery, dentistry, urgent care, boarding, and exotics medicine.
• Newly renovated, standalone facility featuring 11 exam rooms and a dedicated exotics wing.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain and elevate clinical standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on team development and operations.
• Mentor and support associate veterinarians, externs, and the broader medical team.
• Foster a positive, collaborative culture centered around patient care and client service.
• Build strong relationships with veterinarians, support staff, and clients.
• Identify opportunities to enhance medical quality, efficiency, and the overall hospital experience.
• Support the continued growth and success of an established, thriving practice.
• Lead by example in clinical care and professional conduct.
