Responsibilities

The Veterans Home RN provides professional nursing services that require the application of basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques that follow established healthcare procedures and standards. They work in a long-term care setting at the South Dakota State Veterans Home and operate in a patient care environment where the focus is on the healthcare of individuals.

Requirements

• Licensed and able to work as a registered nurse in South Dakota
• Registered Nurse License and associate degree, bachelor degree, or 3-year diploma
• New graduates welcome
• On-the-job training is available

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices
• Recent development in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment
• Ability to keep records
• Follow instructions
• Operate a variety of medical equipment
• Make reports on observations
• Apply general nursing techniques and practices
• Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients
• Communicate effectively
• Deal effectively with patients and staff

Pay and Schedule

• $33.79- $39.63 per hour, depending on experience
• Plus $1.00 per hour shift pay for pm shift
• Plus $1.50 per hour weekend pay
