Vet Assistant

Responsibilities

• Aid veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Safely restrain patients for exams, diagnostics, and treatments.
• Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Absorb patient intake, obtain histories, and document medical information.
• Support surgical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining sterile supplies, and assisting with recovery.
• Collect and process laboratory samples as directed.
• Administer medications and treatments under veterinary supervision, as permitted.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and work areas.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Educate pet owners on basic pet care, nutrition, medications, and preventive health.
• Provide compassionate care to patients and excellent service to clients.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
• General practice experience is a plus.
• Experience with Vetcove PIMS and/or HESKA laboratory equipment is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and restrain animals safely.
• Flexibility to work every Saturday.

Pay

Shifts will include Wednesday 1/2 day, full day Thursday - Saturday.
