About the organisation
Stichting Hoogbegaafd! connects and informs gifted individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The foundation empowers gifted people in their various societal roles, ensuring their talents are better recognised, acknowledged, and applied. In 2024, the foundation won the Mensa Fonds Publieksaward for its work.
About the role
The Vertrouwenspersoon (Confidential Advisor) is an independent role supporting the foundation’s volunteers. You will be available for volunteers who experience a ‘not right’ feeling about situations arising in collaboration with others, such as unwanted behaviour, discrimination, violence, bullying, or suspected financial irregularities. The role is innovative, as Stichting Hoogbegaafd! operates largely through an online community, with most volunteer interactions happening digitally.
This is you
- You have training or experience as a confidential advisor.
- You are approachable and culturally sensitive, with strong listening skills.
- You understand team and group dynamics, including those in online communities.
- You act with integrity and reliability, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- You have no other volunteer role within the foundation, no conflicting business interests, and preferably no ties to similar organisations.
- Familiarity with the foundation’s work is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Support and guide individuals (‘melders’) who reach out with concerns. Provide a listening ear and help them explore possible next steps, while respecting their autonomy.
- Accompany the melder during follow-up actions if needed (e.g., attending meetings).
- Monitor trends and provide (un)solicited advice to the organisation.
- Educate the organisation about the role and remit of the confidential advisor.
Key details
- The role is independent of the foundation’s board and operates under a confidentiality agreement, with legal exceptions for serious crimes or ethical dilemmas.
- The position is voluntary, requiring occasional hours of your time. You will also serve as the on-site confidential advisor during the foundation’s annual symposium (1-2 Saturdays per year).
- A minimum commitment of 2 years is requested to ensure continuity.
