This role involves reshaping investigative journalism into engaging, high-impact visual stories for digital audiences. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Transform investigative journalism into compelling vertical video stories.
  2. Lead the development and execution of short-form video strategies across social platforms.
  3. Create timely explainer videos connecting current events with deeper reporting and insights.
  4. Manage multiple video projects from initial idea generation to final publication.
  5. Host video formats to build audience connection and strengthen digital presence.
  6. Analyze video performance metrics with audience leadership to improve content formats and engagement strategies.
  7. Support reporters with filming guidance and production recommendations.
  8. Edit videos according to editorial standards for optimal platform-specific requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional journalism experience with a strong portfolio of social video production and digital storytelling.
  • Proven experience creating and executing social video strategies that increase audience engagement and growth.
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and efficient video editing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success producing short-form vertical videos for platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • A strong understanding of digital storytelling trends, internet culture, and the visual pacing required for successful short-form content.
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to translate complex topics into accessible, engaging narratives without losing accuracy or context.
  • Comfortable appearing on camera and engaging audiences through hosted video formats.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and production timelines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with journalists, audience teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience covering social issues, investigative reporting, or public-interest topics is a plus.
