This role involves reshaping investigative journalism into engaging, high-impact visual stories for digital audiences. Key responsibilities include:
- Transform investigative journalism into compelling vertical video stories.
- Lead the development and execution of short-form video strategies across social platforms.
- Create timely explainer videos connecting current events with deeper reporting and insights.
- Manage multiple video projects from initial idea generation to final publication.
- Host video formats to build audience connection and strengthen digital presence.
- Analyze video performance metrics with audience leadership to improve content formats and engagement strategies.
- Support reporters with filming guidance and production recommendations.
- Edit videos according to editorial standards for optimal platform-specific requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional journalism experience with a strong portfolio of social video production and digital storytelling.
- Proven experience creating and executing social video strategies that increase audience engagement and growth.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro and efficient video editing in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success producing short-form vertical videos for platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
- A strong understanding of digital storytelling trends, internet culture, and the visual pacing required for successful short-form content.
- Excellent news judgment and the ability to translate complex topics into accessible, engaging narratives without losing accuracy or context.
- Comfortable appearing on camera and engaging audiences through hosted video formats.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and production timelines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with journalists, audience teams, and other stakeholders.
- Experience covering social issues, investigative reporting, or public-interest topics is a plus.
