Vertical Drilling Superintendent (Nationwide Travel)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all field operations related to drilled pier and vertical drilling foundation projects
  • Ensure health and safety remains the top priority on every project site
  • Supervise and manage crews ranging from 10-30+ personnel, including subcontractors and specialty contractors
  • Hold General Foremen, Foremen, and crew leaders accountable for safety, quality, production, and schedule performance
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors a minimum of 6 weeks in advance
  • Manage day-to-day project operations, including production tracking, equipment utilization, and workforce planning
  • Cook up closely with Project Managers, clients, engineers, inspectors, and General Contractors
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships that contribute to repeat business opportunities
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and drilling requirements
  • Ensure drilled pier construction is performed in accordance with project specifications and quality standards
  • Maintain project budgets, production goals, and resource utilization to maximize profitability
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement solutions to maintain project success
  • Aid with project planning, constructability reviews, and estimating efforts when needed
  • Communicate openly with leadership regarding project performance, challenges, and opportunities
  • Mentor, train, and develop field personnel to strengthen the organization's future leadership pipeline
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent overseeing drilled pier, drilled shaft, caisson, deep foundation, or vertical drilling projects
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Foreman or General Foreman in foundation or drilling operations
  • Strong understanding of drilled pier foundation construction methods and execution
  • Experience with utility-scale renewable energy, transmission, substation, heavy civil, bridge, or infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage crews of 10-30+ personnel and multiple subcontractors
  • Experience administering project budgets ranging from $5M to $20M+
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and complex field operations
  • Strong knowledge of drilling equipment, support equipment, and foundation construction techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and project documents
  • Experience with production tracking, scheduling, manpower forecasting, and equipment planning
  • Proven ability to develop, train, and mentor field personnel
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams and client relationships
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with company goals and procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
  • Willing and able to travel nationwide and work extended hours as required by project needs

Qualifications

  • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and maintain a satisfactory driving record
  • Experience with large-diameter drilled shafts, drilled piers, and deep foundation systems
  • Experience working in challenging environments, remote locations, or difficult site conditions
  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar, battery storage, transmission, or substation construction
  • Experience with GPS, layout, surveying, and grade control systems
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob or similar construction management software
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certifications
