Verizon cutting more than 13,000 jobs as it works to ‘reorient' entire company

Verizon is reducing its workforce by over 13,000 employees as part of a company-wide reorientation to improve customer experiences and operational efficiency. The layoffs began on Thursday, following a memo from CEO Dan Schulman highlighting the need to simplify operations and reduce complexity that slows down service delivery.

About the Role Changes

These reductions are part of a broader effort to reshape Verizon’s cost structure to enable greater investment in customer experience. In addition to workforce cuts, the company will significantly reduce outsourced and external labor expenses.

Verizon has established a $20 million “Reskilling and Career Transition Fund” to support employees affected by the layoffs.
