About the role

A member of the Venue Services division of Campus Support Services, the Venue Logistics Assistant for the Environmental Studies and School of Engineering and Applied Science (ES/SEAS) complex provides daily operational support for the central loading dock. As part of the venue team in the complex, the Associate assists with one-stop facility support, supporting tenants and users of the space with loading dock needs including the coordination of deliveries of specialty lab equipment, gasses, and packages, as well as operational deliveries such as catering, food, furniture, and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operational support for the central loading dock operations
  • Assists with loading dock vehicular movement, loading/unloading, and safe transport of goods
  • Responsible for the receiving of packages for tenants and the distribution of packages into lockers for tenant access. In some cases, will assist with distribution of packages and goods to labs and offices throughout the complex.
  • Will also assist departments with outgoing packages.
  • Supports other deliveries, including catering, food, supplies, assisting with vehicular direction, unloading/loading, and movement of goods throughout the complex.
  • Assists users with bulk disposal, surplus, packing/unpacking for user groups.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe environment.
  • As member of the Venue Services team, assists with support for complex operations.
  • As needed, provides supplemental support for the daily operations.
  • Additional Duties, Including:
    • Participates in University Services and Campus Support Services meetings and initiatives
    • Assists with Campus Support Services support for major events
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Demonstrated knowledge of logistics and operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of excellent customer service
  • Willingness and ability to work with a flexible schedule, including early mornings, and occasional late nights, weekends, holidays and long hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or research facility
  • Knowledge of OSHA health and safety guidelines

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Stand or walk 2-4 hours at one time for up to 6 hours per day;
  • Sit for up to 2 hours per day;
  • Lift or carry up to 25 pounds frequently (34 – 66% of the work day);
  • Lift or carry up to 100 pounds occasionally (up to 33% of the work day);
  • Push or pull using forces up to 25 pounds frequently (34 - 66% of the work day);
  • Push or pull using forces up to 100 pounds occasionally (up to 33% of the work day);
  • Repetitively use hands for simple grasping, pushing, or pulling;
  • Kneel, crawl, knee stand, bend, squat, reach overhead, lift overhead, or climb stairs occasionally (up to 33% of the work day);
  • Lift up to 100 pounds in a range of motions from floor to waist height;
  • Lift up to 50 pounds in a range of motions from floor to overhead;
  • Work outdoors and on a loading dock in a variety of environmental conditions;
  • Possess full range of body motions and physical agility.

Candidate will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
