Venture Capital Careers
About the role
Contrarian Thinking Capital is an early-stage venture fund co-led by Christopher Petkas and Codie Sanchez. We invest in the real economy: the businesses that keep the lights on, move the freight, defend our shores, and maintain the infrastructure. We’re looking for a head of Investor Relations to own the capital side of the fund: raising it, keeping it, and running the operations behind it.
This role is responsible for driving the LP pipeline from first contact to signed subscription docs, serving as a primary point of contact for our limited partners, producing the communications that keep them informed, and coordinating the fund operations that keep everything clean and audit-ready. This role sits between our General Partners, our limited partners, and our fund administration, working closely with the investment team, finance, legal, and our media and community teams, who are often where our next LP relationship starts.
Responsibilities
- Own the full LP fundraising lifecycle from initial outreach through signed subscription documents.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for limited partners and coordinate investor communications.
- Manage fund operations to maintain audit readiness and clean record-keeping.
- Collaborate with General Partners, fund administration, finance, legal, and media/community teams to align on LP strategy and messaging.
Requirements
- Prior experience raising capital for funds; understands allocator behavior and the difference between a meeting and a commitment.
- Deep familiarity with fund mechanics: capital calls, distributions, subscription documents, LPAs, fund administration, and DDQs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; builds trust quickly, reads rooms, handles sensitive conversations with discretion, and makes partners feel well served.
- Strong, precise writing; communications are clear, credible, and on-brand.
- Highly organized; values clean systems and builds them to prevent detail slippage.
- Ability to represent the brand across registers—approachable and human when needed, precise and institutional when required.
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential financial and investor information.
Who you are
- You take ownership of outcomes rather than tasks.
- You are organized to the point that nothing slips and you build systems to ensure it doesn’t.
- You thrive in a small team where you’re a center of gravity and remain hands-on.
- You handle sensitive conversations with judgment and discretion.
- You communicate directly and welcome the same in return.
- You want to help build a fund, not just administer one.
Why this role matters
Raising capital is the constraint on everything else we want to do. Right now that work is split across two General Partners who also need to be sourcing and closing deals, which means LP relationships get less attention than they deserve and the operational side runs tighter than it should. This role takes that on end to end. You’ll be the person our LPs actually know, and the reason our back office is clean when it counts. The quality of our LP base over the next few years is largely going to be a function of how well this seat is run.
