About the Role

The Vendor Performance Supervisor leads a team of 3-5 direct reports that reviews vendor compliance data, identifies opportunities for improvement, and regularly meets with vendors and buyers to enhance performance. This role involves assigning research projects, reviewing findings, and sharing results with vendors and merchants. The supervisor facilitates meetings to explain operational guidelines and offers specific actions vendors can take to improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership:
    • Drive business results through positive, influential leadership and high professional standards.
    • Resolve challenges proactively and decisively.
    • Take staff to onsite vendor visits, trade shows, and industry conferences to expand networks and develop supplier relationships.
    • Coach the team to improve written and verbal communication, focusing on vendor and merchant presentations.
    • Foster an environment where team members reach their full potential through coaching, engagement, and development.
    • Recognize and reward successes while attracting, developing, and retaining future leaders.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Lead on and off-site vendor meetings to review scorecards and discuss compliance performance.
    • Proactively advise on operational solutions to address current issues and prevent future incidents.
    • Serve as the point of contact (POC) for vendors with questions or concerns.
    • Maintain professional and supportive relationships with vendors through proactive engagement and regular check-ins.
    • Work closely with buyers to understand key vendors’ issues and review account performance.
    • Assist in communicating new Burlington initiatives to vendors and align on tone and communication strategies with buying colleagues.
    • Foster effective interpersonal skills to cultivate productive working relationships.
    • Utilize organizational partnerships to enhance information sharing and support informed decision-making.
    • Embrace diverse perspectives and promote inclusion to address complex challenges.
    • Maintain professionalism across all communication channels.
    • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DCs, Finance, Merchandise Processing, PO Tracking, and Supply Chain.
    • Develop business solutions with senior leadership.
  • Analysis:
    • Interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support strategic decision-making.
    • Translate data into actionable recommendations that drive efficiency and innovation.
    • Promote and exhibit business curiosity.
    • Partner with leadership to align analytics with strategic vision.
    • Review team’s research projects, validate results, and develop research strategies to identify root causes for vendor issues.
    • Monitor content and timing of team responses to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
    • Remain close to daily work incidents and escalate issues as needed.
    • Review and analyze reporting to ensure open incidents are current and being actioned.
    • Help establish and maintain departmental Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
    • Oversee the maintenance, organization, and documentation of the team’s work processes.
  • Business Acumen:
    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to address questions from team members and internal partners related to Burlington merchandise operations.
    • Apply expertise to evaluate proposed solutions and their benefits.
    • Manage challenging situations for key vendors.
    • Utilize analytical proficiency to identify business opportunities and create actionable recommendations aligned with short- and long-term goals.
    • Support the Manager in leading departmental projects that align with Burlington initiatives.
    • Promote change management for team members and business stakeholders.
    • Assist in creating reference materials and explain process requirements to key vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in retail, vendor relations, or supply chain.

Pay

Min-Mid $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 (salaried). Individual pay decisions are based on qualifications, education, job-related skills, relevant experience, and geographic location.

Schedule

Full-time, hybrid remote.
