Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
About the Role
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and/or designee, the Vehicle Maintenance Assistant will maintain the cleanliness and assist with maintenance of district vehicles and grounds equipment, in a state of operational excellence that meets and/or exceeds all regulatory and district requirements, and promotes safe, effective, and efficient operational services.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining operational department vehicles
- Assist with maintaining all grounds equipment
- Assist with daily vehicle fluid checks as necessary
- Conduct periodic evaluations of interior and exterior vehicle repair and damage
- Maintain a clean vehicle maintenance center
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge in small engine repair
- Ability to do basic oil changes, multi-point inspections, and fluid top-offs
- Experience in snow removal
- Ability to communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective work relationships with district staff and community
- Significant physical ability to stand, kneel, walk for prolonged periods of time including reaching, handling, lifting, pushing, climbing, stooping, and carrying heavy equipment and tools essential to perform work duties
- Complete understanding of safe operation and use of power tools
- Ability to make sound, accurate, and timely decisions in routine and critical conditions
Working Conditions
An automotive repair shop environment subject to noise from equipment, fumes while performing moderate physical labor; including outdoor weather conditions such as but not limited to snow, rain, ice, and severe temperatures. The position is subject to various work schedules including weekend assignments.
