About the role
The Department of State (DOS) – Secret clearance level is seeking a candidate to support Department of State Worldwide Protective Services III (WPS III) Task Orders (TO) in austere environments. The primary function involves maintaining and conducting repairs on Task Order-assigned vehicles, as well as planning and scheduling maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of assigned vehicles.
- Establish and implement vehicle maintenance plans.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of overseas experience in vehicle maintenance.
- Must possess Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)/factory certification for assigned equipment/systems.
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
- Must be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.

- Engine repair
- Automatic transmission/transaxle
- Manual drivetrain and axles
- Suspension and steering
- Brakes
- Electrical/electrical systems
- Engine performance

Training (Paid Training)
Attend and successfully complete the DOS Non-Protective Security Specialist Basic. If already completed and/or served on a DOS TO within the last 3 years, will be eligible to deploy directly to TO.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
- Must be approved for a Department of State Medical Clearance.
- Must be able to do the following: walk, squat, crawl, run, quickly enter/exit vehicles, maneuver around obstacles, carry heavy equipment and personnel, and operate mission‑essential issued equipment requiring dexterity.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods with minimal breaks.
- Must possess no medical or physical impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries considered dangerous or unhealthy.
